Deer Hunter

Wow...so never thought I'd be dressed head to toe in camo before...
Deer Hunting is not very much fun, but Deer Watching is! It is so pretty here, the blind is about 20feet in the air.
But this has def been a first for me. He did shoot one deer this season, but I won't be posting those pics here. eww. I cried a little bit and think I'm traumatized but I'll be fine I'm sure.
But it was fun to watch him get all excited and what ever that rush is about hunting.

Big Weekend in Ft Worth

Woo Hoo Cowboys and Tampa Bay 10-27-08 one of the last games at Arlington Stadium.

Had such a good time, but took us an hour to walk back to the car after the game...look at the crowd!!

Guns and Roses

Wow, so last weekend, we were all dressed up, hair, makeup, flowers, music...all of it.

So today, we went to the gun range.

I'm sure that's a natural progression right??

It really was alot of fun. Guns still scare me to death. But I have to admit it's pretty cool, loading a 30-06 by myself, lining up the scope (I don't know if that the technical term) ...but line up the scope, switch the safety, breathe, hold your breath and squeeze...

then BOOM!!

There was a CIA sniper (retired) or something there next to us with his military box of ammo, 50cal, with all the bells and whistles...with a note pad and everything, taking down wind direction I guess. But he could see where we were hitting our targets and was trying to help. We didn't hit the bullseye, but we were just outside of it and still on the target.

It was pretty cool.

Then, we went to another section and got out the shotguns and shot skeet. Or skeet shooting. That was my favorite! I actually hit them too!

It really was a lot of fun.

Can't wait to see what's next!

A rose by any other name....or something like that

You would think a girl would be dying to change her last name...well especially if your last name is or I guess was, Hussey.
You name it, I've heard it.
Even in the third grade I remember teachers or others snickering, or trying to make it what it's not. There's no ampersand or no, it's not french.
The best was Coach Rumsfield in highschool, you know the coach that also has to teach a class, I think he taught geography or something. Anyway, he would get so embarrassed when it came to roll call. Because he was a coach, he would address EVERYONE in the room by their last name. Of course, when he got down the list to the Hs, "Aubrey?" he would say.
Wal-mart has even started, if you write a check, addressing you by your last name.
"Thank you, Ms.....Hu..say..<>". And even up to when I voted earlier this year, I got, " Hussey? I bet you never get teased about that, do ya?"
No. Never. You are sooo original.
But now I am changing my last name. I get to drop the teasing and giggling everytime I meet someone new.
It's kinda sad. I feel like I'm mourning a part of me, a part of me that has been with me for thirty, thirty something years.
For whatever the reason, if someone knew my name they rarely forgot it. I think it really did build character....had to be tough to stand in front of your peers and say it with pride.
Even now people occasionally come and ask if I'm related to Harry or Chelsie because the name stands out, it's not a common name, so we must all be related. But it is kinda neat to know there are others out there.
Another thing, there are no boys in our family to carry it on. Layne is the only one of my generation with the name...and something tells me she may be changing hers soon as well.
Speaking of, on one hand it's not as if any of us have changed for the "better".
Bernardi, Hattenbach, Barnicle, and Huckaby...
(I'm smiling right now with a tear in my eye.)
So, farewell, Hussey. I will miss you.

Now what??

Settling back into normal everyday life....is so hard! For 10 months my creative juices were flowing! Hobby Lobby today, I'll stop at Michaels tomorrow, do I have enough ribbon?, eggplant or aubergine, and on and on. Not to mention being off for the last week and a half!
It was so much fun. I seriously could do all that stuff for a living. But wonder if I would be so dedicated if it wasn't our own.
Literally every night (I think I took one week off) I was glueing, cutting, researching, matching, hoping, that it would all come together. I really think that it all paid off.
But now what???
I have sat around the last couple nights feeling anxious because I thought there was something I should be doing but haven't been....just out of habit I guess.
So hopefully this blog will give me something to do, want to post pics from the wedding, and share some of the stuff I made for the wedding...because I am very proud of some of the stuff I did.
I think one of my favorite things was the Scrapbook Journal I made for Kyle to give the day of the wedding. I started it in Feb I think...basically starting at the time he asked me to marry him on New Years Eve up to our Wedding Day.
He coudn't believe I had done all of that work for him, couldn't believe I had remembered everything from the year before for the timeline at the beginning of the book. He said he loved it and think he was really touched by it.
I'll add pictures soon!

Still trying to rest up

Oh my goodness...lol.
The wedding weekend was wonderful. We couldn't have hoped for anything more or better. We are both so thankful for everyone that helped our day come together so perfectly.
We truly could not have done it without all of you.
Thank you to everyone that was able to make it to the rehearsal dinner and the wedding, it would not have been the same without any of you.

I have never done a blog really before, so we will see how this goes, but thought Devon's idea for this was perfect. We will try to update our site fairly regularly to keep everyone posted on how we are doing.

It's actually 2 days after our special day and so far so good....lol

Love to you all
